Hellesylt

Hellesylt is one of the elder tourist areas in Norway. In the spring, summer and autumn, the place is perfect for anglers and hikers.
Hellesylt (with a population of 650 locals) has long traditions in tourism. A changing and varying nature gives the impression people connect to movies and pictures, and of that reason they often comes back just to experience this wonderful nature once again. Every year, Hellesylt are visited by about 100 large cruise ships, among those «Queen Mary II» and «The World».
There are plenty of mountain peaks you can have a go on if you like hill walking. You don’t have to be a climber to visit the mountains, there are lots of tracks and farm roads you can wander on for as long as you like, and almost everyone leads to several of the valleys. You can quench your thirst with crystal clear water from a mountain stream, experience the silence and the relaxing wilderness. The mountains are full of new impressions and it really is a diversion of the usual trot. If you don’t want to take a walk, you can travel by car. Either way you will experience the nature’s special and wonderful charm.

If you like to go fishing, you have a golden opportunity in our rivers. We have a river, named Korsbrekkelva, which is well-known among anglers and it passes by Stadheimfossen Camping. There have been caught salmons with a total weight of 25 kilos in this river. Of course you can have a go with the fishing in Sunnylvsfjorden if you want to fish for trout, but to do that a Fishing License is required. The fishing license can be bought in the camping centre. On a hot summer day, Sunnylvsfjorden is the perfect place to go bathing. The water in Sunnylvsfjorden is known for its pleasant temperatures.
Stadheimfossen Camping is the ultimate starting point for some of the most famous tourist places in Western Norway: Geiranger with the world-famous fjord, Trollstigen, Briksdalsbreen and Norangsdalen.
Many people visit us year after year, and we hope you are (or will become) one of them. Enjoy your stay!
